These family self-guided trails explore different aspects of Hyde Abbey's story — from physical remains still visible today to sites and features that commemorate its medieval past. There's plenty for younger children to spot along the way, and older children and adults will find more in-depth historical information too.

Stones from Hyde Abbey have been re-used in walls all over Hyde and beyond.
This trail starts at Hyde Gateway and takes 15-20 minutes hunting for distinctive Abbey stones in nearby streets.

This trail starts at St Bartholomew's Church and takes 15-20 minutes exploring Hyde Abbey and King Alfred's connection to the site.
This trail starts at St Bartholomew's Church and takes 20-30 minutes hunting outside the church for Hyde Abbey stones and masons' marks.
The outside of the church is generally accessible even when the church is closed.
This trail takes place inside St Bartholomew's Church and takes 10-15 minutes spotting different objects in the stained glass windows.
The trail has been designed for visitors to our Hyde900 events held at St Bart's - the church is generally only open to visitors on some Saturdays between 10 and 1pm - do check before visiting at other times!
