1225-2025 The 'Real' Magna Carta and Hyde Abbey's part in its story
Professor Carpenter is a leading authority on the history of Britain in the central Middle Ages and has been heavily involved in the Magna Carta project. He hit the media headlines earlier this year after discovering a further copy of Magna Carta in the archives of Harvard University.
Professor Carpenter will talk about the ‘re-issue’ and why the 1225 version is the ‘real’ Magna Carta. This important event was witnessed by Abbot Aston of Hyde Abbey, whose title appears on the charter.
