datePosted on 14:09, June 13th, 2012

St Bede School in Hyde is celebrating 100 years since it first opened its doors in 1912 as Danemark Elementary School. The school has been fortunate to receive funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund to undertake a project to research and celebrate this centenary.

Aspects of the celebratory project include:

  • A Centenary procession which took place at the beginning of the school year in September 2011
  • Full arrangement and recording of the school song We are the Children of St. Bede
  • Cathedral Service of Thanksgiving, Celebration and Remembrance
  • An oral history project gathering memories of past pupils and staff
  • Collection of photographs
  • Exhibition
  • Creative workshops for children

The school website will be regularly updated and includes a questionnaire for past pupils to complete – see http://www.stbedewinchester.co.uk
