cover previewIn late September the back room of the Hyde Tavern pub in Winchester was filled with budding local writers who were celebrating the launch of their second book. Following on from the success of Inspired by Hyde, which was published in 2010, Hyde Days and Holidays has just come into print.

For this second book, we’ve broadened our horizons and the book contains a selection of poems and prose about both Hyde and travels further afield. Whether it is Winchester’s Water Meadows or Marrakech’s markets, the stories told will whisk you into another world, a world of facts and fiction and a feeling of escapism.

Supplementing these are two eye-witness accounts of the recent opening of the Unmarked Grave in the local church and its possible connection with King Alfred.

Hyde Days & Holidays is available now – you can order it online for £6.50 including postage and packaging.

To order, press the “Buy Now” button below. You can pay using a Paypal account if you have one, or by debit or credit card.

The Second Hyde900 Writers’ Competition

datePosted on 15:29, September 15th, 2013 by Site admin

bookSee your work in print in our second anthology of local writing

Following the sell-out success of the first Hyde900 book, Inspired by Hyde, we’re planning a sequel – and you might be in it!

The theme is ‘Hyde Days and Holidays’. It’s all about places – local or distant – and the impressions they make and the people you meet. It could be a poem, a short story or a short piece about a location you remember well and the memories you associate with it. The place could be in Winchester or elsewhere: somewhere you’ve travelled, somewhere you used to live, or somewhere you’ve just made up.

Entries are welcome from all writers of all ages, amateur or professional, who live, work, study or attend a writing group in or near the Hyde area of Winchester. Read the rest of this entry »
